Katha invites submissions of translations of children’s fiction from any Indian language into English or Hindi. We welcome both contemporary and classic works . . . stories that speak to young readers, spark imagination and reflect the richness of diverse languages and cultures.

What We’re Looking For

  • Translations of children’s fiction (for ages 0–12)
  • From any Indian language into English or Hindi
  • Stories that are engaging, meaningful and well-suited for young readers
  • Both new and older works are welcome

Our focus is always on readability, enjoyment and resonance, with books that delight children and stay with them.

Submission Guidelines

  • Maximum length: up to 5000 words
  • Send your translation to: submissions@katha.org
  • Subject line: – Translation Submission 2026
  • Deadline: 15 June 2026

Your submission email must include

  • The translated text in a PDF file format
  • A short note introducing the original work and author (in about 300 words)
  • Details of the copyright status of the original text
  • Proof of permission from the copyright holder (if the work is not in the public domain)
