Rajinder Singh Bedi was a prolific Indian writer who wrote in Urdu, though his mother-tongue was Punjabi. He also worked in Hindi cinema as a film director, screenwriter and dialogue writer. Bedi received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1965.
