Mahim Bora (1924–2016), a teacher by profession, was a short story writer, novelist, poet, playwright, essayist and translator. He made a significant mark in Asomiya fiction with his collection Kathnibari Ghat. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2001 and the Padma Shri in 2011. He passed away in 2016.
