Lakshmi Nandan Bora has a Masters in Pure Physics from Presidency College, Kolkata, and a doctorate in Meteorology from Andhra University. He has taught at Assam Agricultural College, Jorhat, and at the Johannes Gutenberg University, Germany. His novel Ganga Chilanir Pakhi has been translated and published in twenty-two Indian languages by National Book Trust, New Delhi. He received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1988.
