Krishna Sobti (1925–2019) made an immense contribution to Hindi literature. One of the most distinctive aspects of her writings was her inventive use of language. She not only enriched Hindi with new words and expressions but also experimented with and introduced innovative styles and narrative techniques. Her many acclaimed works include Daar Se Bichhudi, Mitro Marjani, Surajmukhi Andhere ke, Zindaginama, Ai Ladki, Hum Hashmat, Yaaron ke Yaar, Teen Pahad, Badalon ke Ghere, Sobti Ek Sohbat, and Samay Sargam, among others. Each of these works reflects a unique linguistic texture, infused deeply with the flavour of its regional setting—Punjab in Daar se Bichhudi and Rajasthan in Mitro Marjani, for instance. She passed away in 2019.
