Joginder Paul (1925–2016) wrote three novels, two novellas and several collections of short stories and “short short” stories—a genre he significantly enriched. Recognized as one of the leading Urdu writers of the subcontinent, his work has been translated into several Indian and international languages. He received numerous honours, including the Urdu Adab Award, the Modi Ghalib Award for Urdu Prose, the Shiromani Urdu Sahityakar Award, the All India Bahadur Shah Zafar Award, the Iqbal Samman, and an international award from Doha for his contribution to Urdu literature. He passed away in 2016.
