James Dokhuma, one of the icons of Mizoram, worked in several capacities before joining the MNF (Mizo National Front) underground movement in the mid-sixties. He penned three novels in Mizo—Thla Hleinga Zan, Khawar In, and Rinawmin from the Guwahati District Jail. He has forty books to his credit, including eleven novels, two biographies, four plays, four history books and a dictionary of Mizo Idioms and Phrases. He has received several awards including the Padma Shri and Bhasha Samman from Sahitya Akademi.
