Hugh Lewin was a South African anti-apartheid activist and writer. He was sentenced to prison for his opposition of apartheid. He was the winner of the 2003 Olive Schreiner Prize for his prison memoir Bandiet Out of Jail and the 2012 Alan Paton Award for Stones against the Mirror, a personal memoir.
