Arun Sarma was an Assamese writer, known for his unconventional dramatic works. He wrote six novels, and was awarded with the Sahitya Akademi Award for his novel Ashitbodar Rong (The Hues of Blessing) in 1998. He also received the Padma Shri in 2010, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2003 and the Assam Valley Literary Award in 2005.
