Arun Joshi (1939–1993) was an Indian novelist writing in English, acclaimed for his philosophical exploration of alienation, identity, and moral conflict. Educated in India and the United States, he worked in industry before turning to literature. His notable novels include The Foreigner, The Strange Case of Billy Biswas, The Apprentice, and Last Labyrinth, which won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1983. Joshi’s introspective style earned him a lasting place in Indian English literature. He passed away in 1993.
