Anand is the pseudonym of P Sachidananda who was born in 1936, in Irinjalakuda , Kerala. He graduated in Civil Engineering from Trivandrum engineering college and has worked as a Commissioned Officer in the Indian Army. He is known for his thought provoking works of fiction and his major works are Aalkoottam, Abayarthikal, Marubhoomikal Untakunnathu ( which has been translated into English as Desert Shadows and published by Penguin India etc.) . He has also written a few collections of short stories , two plays and two articles. Anand has received various awards for his writing including the Kerala and Kendriya Sahitya Akademi awards.
