Akhteruzzaman Elias (1943–1997) was a leading Bangladeshi novelist and short story writer. Known for Marxist realism, his works explore class struggle, history, and urban life. His major novels Chilekothar Sepai and Khoabnama are landmarks of modern Bangla literature. He remains highly influential in South Asian literary studies and critical discourse. He passed away in 1997.
