Bolwar Mahammad Kunhi
Bolwar Mahammad Kunhi is the first writer to depict the travails of Muslims in Kannada literature. His short story collections have received many awards: Devarugala Rajyadalli which won the Karnataka Sahitya Akademi Award (1983), Anka which won the Bharatrajya Samsthan Award (1986), and Akashakke Neeli Parade which won the Sahitya Akademi Award for the Best Creative Book (1991).

Geeta Dharmarajan
Geeta Dharmarajan loves writing for children. She received the Padma Shri in 2012 for her work in literature and education. She was also the joint winner of the Business Standard Award for Social Entrepreneur of the Year in 2018.
Kanji Patel
Kanji Patel is from the rural area of Panchmahal district and is a postgraduate in English and in Sanskrit. A well-known poet in Gujarati, his first collection of poems Janapada, was published in 1992.
Madhuranthakam Narendra
Madhurantakam Narendra has a PhD in English and taught at Sri Venkateshwara University, Tirupati.
Meena Kakodkar
Meena Kakodkar is a Konkani writer who has authored two collections of short stories and a full-length play for children. Her work has been well received and she is the recipient of a number of literary awards, including the Sahitya Akademi Award, 1991. She is actively involved in promoting performing arts and culture and as a social activist is a trustee of the Goa Animal Welfare Trust. She retired recently from the Goa State Government.
Mithra Venkatraj
Mithra Venkatraj had her first collection of short stories, Rukmayi, published in 1991. Several of her short stories have been published in major Kannada magazines. She is actively associated with the literary and cultural activities of the Kannada Sangha of Mumbai.
Prakash Narayan Sant
Prakash Narayan Sant alias Bhalchandra Gopal Dixit has a doctorate in Geology and is a Reader in Y.C. College, Karad.
Pratibha Ray
She is undoubtedly one of the most gifted and accomplished amongst the contemporary short story writers and novelists in Orissa. She has an impressive corpus of eighteen novels, several short story collections, one travelogue, nine books for children and ten for neo-literates. She has received numerous awards and honours, including the Orissa Sahitya Akademi Award (1985) for her novel Shilapadma, the Sarala Award for her novel Yajnaseni, the Katha Award for Creative Fiction for the story “Shapya” (1994) and the Biswv Award (1995) for her contribution to Oriya literature. She is also the first woman to receive the Moorti Devi Award of the Bharatiya Jnanpith (1991) for her path-breaking work, Yajnaseni.

Priyamvad is a postgraduate in Ancient Indian History and Culture, with a novel, Weh Wahan Quaid Hain, and several short stories amongst his published works.

Vandana Bist
Vandana Bist has illustrated several books and magazines for children and is a recipient of the Noma Concours and the Chitra Katha Award 1998 for her books. Her works have been exhibited in Japan and Bratislava.
