An avid reader, Nainy has a keen interest in art and literature. She loves reading books by Sukumar Ray and Abanindranath Tagore, her all time favourites. Her other musings include failed attempts at drawing, a strong fixation with the river and an uncanny relationship with her pen. It took her a while before she realised that her calling was in fact writing books for children. Mamta Nainy is a children's book editor. She also moonlights as a writer and has a number of books to her credit. She loves travelling but is too lazy to do it, so she makes do with reading.

Shanti Devi is a skilled painter in the Madhubani style of Bihar, from where she hails. What makes her special is the unique gift that she possesses – her magical fingers.

Her spectacular work, especially the painted myths and religious symbols, best portray the beauty and lushness of Mithila region. She has painted huge murals and also conducts workshops for children on the Madhubani style of painting.
